Lettie has been dealing with episodic lameness since mid April, but now steadily getting worse.
X-Ray from yesterday shows Lettie has bone cancer, a tumor on the lower end of her left femur. The image shows this is quite significant, and we are now dealing with what will be a short stint of palliative care and pain relief.
Lettie seems comfortable at present, seems happy and is enthusiastic about food and would really like to go for walks.
Letties had 4 teeth out a couple of days ago, she’s always had dental issues. She seems to have recovered pretty quickly and is now relaxing as normal.
Lettie and Rocks will share some of our sofas but them sharing Rocks’ bed is unusual, almost certainly Rocks was there first and Lettie is just being bossy. Rocks is a little nervous.
Lettie spent most of yesterday evening relaxing like this. She really will spend entire evenings lying upsidedown with her legs in the air.
She’s now very relaxed when she’s at home with us, but sometimes has issues when out visiting, often needing to be put in her safe place (usually the car works well).
Lettie (Jinja Heart) is our latest foster, she’s been returned to GAP after about 6 months living with a family with children.
She’s smart, inquisitive, confident and fitted right into to home life with Raro immediately. She can be a bit vocal at times – unusual for a greyhound – but she seems to be calming down as there isn’t any one else barking around here.
She’s very interactive though still needs to make the transition to being more focused on what her humans want instead of being in her own world. I would imagine that after a few months in the right home her behaviour will have changed.
Walks well on the lead, great with other dogs and meeting people. Very well mannered and very trainable.
Unfortunately she seems to be very familiar with how couches work; she is happy to jump up and share a sofa with Raro if she feels like it. He’s very accommodating, but has no choice in the matter anyway.
