It great to see so many dogs having a good time and behaving well at GAP runs, here a couple of black hounds getting to know each other on Sunday.

Raro having a great time at the run today. Cold weather always makes the dogs more active.

Vulcan and Raro are getting on very well 🙂

Raro has easily made himself at home, it is as if he’s always lived here. He gets on well with Vulcan, the only discussions they’ve had are when Raro has disturbed Vulcan while he’s asleep – which has always been an issue with Vulcan.
Raro is slowly putting on weight, and the brown stains on his muzzle are improving. His behaviour is pretty good, especially around the house, but he is overly interested in small dogs when out walking – we really have to watch his behaviour there. Otherwise, Raro is hard to fault – he’s clean and well behaved, eats well, doesn’t make a fuss, loves company and has lots of personality.

Ooof!

Raro (Lochinvar Camaro) joined us on Friday, he’s awesome. Fits right in, fairly relaxed; a great big lazy dog.
He’s the 12th dog we’ve fostered over the past couple of years, he’ll make a fantastic pet.
The brown greasy mark on his muzzle will disappear in a few days when the effects of his new diet start to show.

Vulcan at Karangahake Gorge on Friday.

Vulcan very sad today, he really likes company and is missing Anabel; we’ll get another foster dog very soon (about 3 weeks or so).
And of course Vulcan would be very sad to know that Leonard Nimoy died last week. LLAP.

Anabel left us yesterday – she’s moved in with Nick. They got on extremely well, they’ll be good company.
We’ll miss her, and Vulcan will miss her even more.

Vulcan is being very tolerant of Annabel – some greyhounds don’t like having their personal space invaded, yet Vulcan is reasonably happy to share a sofa with Annabel. Of course, foster dogs aren’t allowed on furniture (and Vulcan is only allowed on certain furniture), they are also quite happy sharing a rug, provided it is big enough.
It has taken Vulcan a couple of years to get this relaxed, when we first got him, he’d snuggle up beside you but really freak out if you reached over him or made an unexpected move – but he’s very good now.
